Design Challenges

1. Eco Classroom Kit (SDG 4: Quality Education)

- Design a low-cost, portable STEM teaching tool for underserved schools.
- Requirements : Moving parts (gears, hinges), 3D-printable design, safety.
- Bonus : Manual/hand-powered mechanisms.

2. Pocket Factory (SDG 9: Innovation & Infrastructure)

- Design a portable, solar-powered workstation for makers.
- Requirements : Use SolidWorks Configurations/Motion Studies.
- Bonus : All-terrain durability.

3. Green Street Object (SDG 11: Sustainable Cities)

- Create eco-friendly public furniture (e.g., solar benches, smart trash bins).
- Requirements : Use SolidWorks Sheet Metal/Weldments, recycled materials.
- Bonus : Interactive features like LED displays.

4. Micro Recycling Unit (SDG 12: Responsible Consumption)

- Build a compact, manual recycling tool (e.g., hand-cranked shredder).
- Requirements : Functional mechanics, no electricity.
- Bonus : Modular parts for easy repair.

Guide

CAD File : SolidWorks-native formats only.
1-Page PDF :Describe your design’s impact, and SDG alignment.
Include renders and exploded views.
Sustainability : Highlight recycled materials, energy efficiency.

Judging

Criteria

Creativity (30%) : Originality and innovation.
Manufacturability (25%) : Ease of production and practicality.
Sustainability (25%) : Eco-friendly materials and processes.
SDG Alignment (20%) : Clear link to the chosen UN goal.
